The Back 40 returns for 2026. SFRC’s unhinged off-road experimenters have cooked up something extra special this year…

SFRC Back 40 Service Announcement;

Due to extinguished fire restrictions in the Mt Hood National Forest, global warming, rampaging petrified (but somehow still mobile) baby heads and heated political and religious discourse, the Back40 has been re-located from its originally intended locale.

The Back 40 will now be a cross-border foray into lands with no fires, no quagmires, and maybe no PortaPotties.

It will be held without governing body approval.

In order to begin your transformational journey from the latte motherland (AKA Portland), it may require you to drive your licensed or unlicensed vehicle through sovereign lands and 'cross tossed and turbulent waterways for close to 60 minutes.

There may or may not be agents of the law stalking you as you approach the starting point.

There may be pretty fantastic pie available for purchase at local establishments.

There will be gravel.

It may occur on October 17th, and it is possible that some right-minded folks would stay overnight, in leathers, stinky Stitches, trash-bag bivys and/or moth-eaten sleeping sacks.

It will be good, it will be memorable, it will be history in the making, so prepare yourselves to join us. Stay tuned for more details.
